ARLECCHINO U L-BARBIER TA' SIVIGLIA

An original Commedia dell’Arte style farce written and directed by Narcy Calamatta. The plot is based on the famous 18th century comedy by Pierre Beaumarchais, The Barber of Seville. This time, young lover Lindoro, the incognito Count of Almaviva, is posing as a commedia actor and has to disguise himself both as the music teacher and as Figaro the barber, to be able to meet his loved one, Rosina. Pantalone has to double as the miserly father and the character of the notorious Don Basilio of La Calunnia fame. The maid Colombina is the deus ex macchina of the piece who gets Arlecchino to impersonate Dottor Bartolo, Rosina’s would-be suitor, with an unwanted beard.
