The play takes place in 17th-century Italy.
The Count, Signor Monteverdi, in danger of losing everything due to his large gambling debts seeks out the magician, Metastasio, for help. He asks Metastasio to cast a spell on the rich merchant Domenico so that the merchant will fall in love with Monteverdi's ugly daughter Vittoria. The spell requires a tuft of Domenico's hair. Monteverdi charges his servant, Pellico, with the task of obtaining the hair from the local barber Tartini since the two are friends. Tartini is irreligious, unmarried, and poor. Unaware of Monteverdi's gambling debts and the fact that Vittoria is ugly, the barber cheats Pellico by giving him a tuft of his own hair instead of the merchant Domenico's hair.
This play got "The Best Play Award" in a National Playwriting Contest in Istanbul. It is partly published in the "Absinthe New European Writing Journal" in the USA.
