Improviso!

Theatre 3 is again adding Tucson to this international celebration of Commedia dell’Arte with an original masked performance, Improviso! Synopsis: Flaminia, a yogi, wants to marry Flamio, a dancer. Together, their dream is to have a yoga/dance studio. (Or is it dance/yoga studio?) But Pantalona, Flaminia’s mother, does not approve. In fact, Pantalona doesn’t believe in love. Will love find a way? Warning: Commedia Dell’Arte is an old theatre form that is bawdy, scatological, & includes enlarged body parts, gross occurrences, & vulgarity. Improviso! will be presented by Etcetera, the late-night arm of Live Theatre Workshop, on February 9, 22, & 23 at 10:30 PM and February 17 & 21 at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $10. At each performance, the artists will gather signatures to petition the United Nations Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (UNESCO) to recognize Commedia dell'Arte as an official piece of "Intangible Cultural Heritage.”
