The Gardiner Museum is celebrating Commedia dell'Arte Day with a special talk entitled Harlequin Romance: Europe's Love Affair with Commedia dell'Arte, by Domenico Pietropaolo, Professor of Italian Studies and Principal of St. Michael's College at the University of Toronto. Professor Pietropaolo will consider how the Commedia dell'Arte adapted to the political and economic conditions of Europe, migrating from the stage to the world of the decorative arts. Visitors are also invited to explore the Museum's own collection of Commedia dell'Arte figures, the most comprehensive collection in a public institution.
